Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is the intelligent and socialized transportation system, which uses advanced information, communication and control technologies to reform the traditional transportation system. ITS is mainly composed of five parts: Advanced Transportation Manage System (ATMS), Advanced Transportation Information System (ATIS), Advanced Vehicle Control System (AVCS), Advanced Public Transportation System (APTS) and Advanced Electronic Toll System (AETS).This dissertation mainly investigates two aspects of ITS. Firstly, a hierarchical information network of transportation, in which the information is forwardly collected and distributed with a combination of control & inducement, is proposed based on the present wireless communication technologies. Meanwhile, the simulation of communication between one server and many other clients, which simulates information transmission between vehicles and information collector, is performed under Server/Client mode with Winsock interface and MFC Winsock program. Secondly, an integrated route algorithm is designed according to the integrated cost function. On the basis of BPR (Bureau of Public Roads) function many facts and the actual situations in China are comprehensively considered in that function. Finally the integrated routing algorithm is evaluated with OPNET. The simulation results show that the road delay and fuel cost in the integrated cost function are related.
