Study On Road Performance Of OGFC Bituminous Mixture

Open graded friction courses(OGFC) is a kind of open graded porous asphalt mix designed to drain water on the road face when raining.It has good performance on draining ,anti-slide and noise reducing.It is common used in foreign countries from 1980s,while the lack in China because its poor mechanics performance,due to the high pore rate,cannot fit for the heavy traffic load in China.This paper discussed the factors that affect parameters of OGFC mixture, concluding the rules of compaction temperature and times in affecting parameters of mixture, carefully analyzing factors that affect leakage losses of mixture; in research of water stability, the paper probed into the rules of different outer agents and different grading in affecting water stability, which poses certain significance in guiding to improve water stability of the actual works; the paper also made in-depth study to porosity of OGFC mixture, thus obtaining the conversion relation between the effective porosity and full porosity, and analyzed various factors in affecting the porosity of the mixture. Finally, on the basis of the above mentioned contents, a pilot road was successfully paved on Xianyue road of Xiamen by utilizing the design method of improved OGFC mixture.
