Nowadays, the thought of saving & consumption cut-down has already been rooted in the heart of the people. The people are seeking for how to reduce the later operating cost of long and large tunnel in tunnel engineering, so the no-power & micro-power ventilation modes of long and large tunnel have been put on the agenda, and the traffic wind used as a power source is being more and more concerned. Based on the"Study on the HK-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge Undersea Tunnel Ventilation Shaft Distance"subject, this paper has studied the traffic wind in the long and large tunnel ventilation and computed the HK-Zhuhai-Macau bridge undersea tunnel ventilation shaft distance by analyzing how to use the traffic wind. First, this paper computed and analyzed the ventilation demand of HK-Zhuhai-Macau bridge undersea tunnel by using Euro-2 auto emission standard and the formula provided by the PIARC new report"Road Tunnels:Vehicle Emissions and Air Demand for Ventilation"in 2004, and compared the ventilation demand result with the result by using the auto emission standard and the formula provided by specifications for design of ventilation of highway tunnel. The caculation method of ventilation demand per meter is given. The extreme distance of HK-Zhuhai-Macau bridge undersea tunnel is determined by computing and analyzing the extreme wind velocity in tunnel, which provides an allowable length interval for the ventilation shaft distance. The concept of critical speed is put forward for studying the influence of the traffic pressure. The critical speed under different operation condition is computed by formula provided by the specifications for design of ventilation of highway tunnel and the dynamic mesh technique provided by CFD software Fluent. Considering the actual auto speed and the driving safety in tunnel, the reasonable prolonged distance interval of HK-Zhuhai-Macau bridge undersea tunnel ventilation shaft is analyzed based on the reasonable critical speed analysis.
