With the rapid development of economy.the regional affiliation need is frequent day after day, volume of highway traffic explosive quickly. A considerable number of expressways in service are no longer satisfy the need for both increasing traffic volums and social progress, it is confinement the development of economy. Thus more and more highways are pending to be reconstructed or widened.This article in view of research on the contrast deformation between new and existing embankment of highway, unifies Xi'an to the Baoji highway extension project, uses methods of field test and Laboratory, used the method of FEM researched the changing law of engineering properties of ground under old and new embankments. Used the finite element numerical simulation method, analysed the factor of the contrast deformation between new and existing embankment, and got the influence law of the factor. Based on this study, discussed construst technique in subgrade of the highway. The main contents were presented as the following:(1) By selecting some typical sections, through the geological reconnaissance, soil mechanics assay, researched the changing law of engineering properties of ground under old and new embankments(2) Considered the factor of difference broaden width, broaden height,the ratio of truncating the slope, excavation of the pedestal sit ,property of packing loaded stock etc, simultaneously considered the disturbance of construction, the ground water transfusion as well as the transportation load's influence used the method of FEM researched the changing law of engineering properties of ground under old and new embankments.(3) On the base of material investigation,discussed the method of the ground treatment, selected of packing loaded stock, compaction method and machines of the project. discussed construst technique in subgrade of the highway.
