Advanced flume (basin) is essential equipment which is used in studying coastal hydrodynamics. It has been widely applied in research of wave problem and costal ocean engineering. The key problem of wave flume or basin is to set up a practical wave-making control system.This paper first introduces the development of wave maker and the related knowledge of wave theory and emphases on the composition, working principle of wave maker, development technology of wave-making control system and data acquisition system. A complete set of control system is based on AC servo multi-directional wavemaker in port coastal and offshore engineering laboratory at Tianjin university, which is based on Windows operating platform and a method of mixed-language development platform of LabVIEW and Visual C++ is adopted. The software could realize the wavemaker system control, data acquisition, data analysis and sensor calibration. The control software can successful simulate regular wave, cnoidal wave, breaking wave, single-directional irregular waves and multi-directional irregular waves. By carrying on many times test, the result expresses that the control system can reasonably simulate the testing process. Secondly, Based on PCI-7484 data acquisition card the data acquisition system completes driving method of Non-NI card and applies DLL technology, which can achieve single-channel data acquisition system and multi-channel data acquisition system, and it has higher precision of acquisition and also can lively display the waveform. Eventually, the sensor calibration successfully works out transfer coefficient and relative coefficient by linear fitting and the analysis of acquisition data can be analyzed by various data analysis.By using VI Server technology in LabVIEW, the control system has a simple and friendly user interface that is convenient to operate and realizes dynamic control. It is useful to perform many teaching tests or other related research tasks.
