This article mainly studied on the technical conditions of Pb-Sn alloy deposited on aluminum, the casting method of aluminum alloy light-type grid and the possibility of aluminum alloy light-type grid for valve-regulated lead-acid batteries. A light-type grid material for lead-acid batteries, which was developed in the present work, is to reduce the weight of the batteries, so the weight special energy could be promoted.Pb-Sn alloy was plated from sulfamic acid in this experiment. Cathode voltammetry experiments, the stability of sulfamic acid eleclyte, and hull experiments were used to look for the best technical conditions for Pb-Sn electrodepositing. The surface of the deposit was observed by ESEM, showing that the deposits from sulfamic acid were very compact. Anode voltammetry experiments and EIS experiments shown that the Pb-Sn deposits prepared in sulfamic acid eleclyte were very corrosion-resist to 5M H2SO4(simulating the ture customance of the lead-acid batteries). The adherence of the deposits were tested by fatigue bending test and scratch test. This article began from the method of traditional casting. Taking a comprehensive view of the technique possibility and cost, the method of metal type casting was choose to produce aluminum alloy grid. The quality of the grid was very light and the strength was high. It could raise the weight specific energy of lead-acid bateeries to a large extent, and could support the distortion in the charge or discharge processes, so the circulating life of the batteries could be raised.Innovatively, aluminum alloy light-type grid was used as the cathode of the valve-regulated lead-acid batteries. Furthermore, the performances of the batteries were tested firstly. The results indicated that the weight specific energy, high rate discharge performance and the function of low temperature, compared to the traditional grid, were increased by this light-grid in a certain degree. So aluminum alloy light-type grid could replace the traditional grid.In the present work, the electrochemical performance of the Pb-Sn alloy deposits from sulphamic acid was researched in 5M H2SO4, offering an academic theory to ameliorating the quality. According to EIS, LSV, CV, etc, appropriate content of Sn can reduce the impedence of the PbO membrane evidently.
