Recently,with the development of national economy, there were more and more vehicles, traffic demand ,and also more and more traffic flow in cities,which cause the traffic jam frequently,so the traffic in our city is facing huge pressure now. In this situation, the dynamic navigation system which is used to receive the real-time traffic information from the traffic center, can get the real-time traffic status around, and also its data can be update with the wireless network. This navigation mode can not only avoid the traffic congestion, save the traveling cost efficently by guiding driver but also the map data of the navigation can be maintained conveniently via the connection of traffic information center and navigation system.At the same time, the elements of the navigation electronic map described the natural phenomenon on the surface of the earth and the man-made elements to which the navigation is directly related, however, the man-made elements to which the navigation is directly related change rapidly with time, most content of the map data update are the the path, POI concerns and others which directly service for the navigation and change with the time, while the upgrading method of navigation electronic map remains in the ways of all updates. It is very inappropriate for the application of majority of vehicle navigation users. If we can not solve the problem that how to upgrade the real-time navigation electronic map well, the implementation of entire dynamic navigation is incomplete. In this paper, we mainly discuss how to update the navigation electronic map in a reasonable way to improve the accuracy of navigation electronic map, and then improve the overall efficiency of the dynamic navigation system.In the Context of above, the thesis which is based on (863plan) subject"research and development on the intelligent navigation software based on dynamic information and its application system", study on the incremental updating on electronic navigation map which is based on topological relationship. The thesis is mainly about the following aspects: Chapter I:Preface introducts the research background of this article partly, and a detailed analysis of the central-type real-time dynamic navigation system and the problems of navigation electronic map in real-time traffic. And then present that a navigation electronic map in real-time updates are related to the implementation of dynamic navigation a key issue.Chapter II: In this chapter, the basic concepts of the navigation electronic map is introduced.Analyse of the basic content of the spatial database to update have been done,too.The issue also makes a preliminary study on the real-time problem of map data in the dynamic navigation, sums up the existing electronic map navigation update mode and mechanism, analyses the previous problems in updating the navigation electronic map ,and proposes the basic framework of navigation electronic map's incremental update. Chapter III:Start from the analysis of navigation electronic map's spatial data organized method, then comparatively analysize the advantages and disadvantages of the existing navigation data standards.After that we proposed a navigation electronic map data organizing methods which is applied to incremental update, and on this basis, we focused on an analysis of the spatial data and non-spatial data structure of navigation electronic map. And we also made a preliminary exploration on the physical storage which is suitable for navigation electronic map's incremental update.Chapter IV:In this chapter, we described the topological relationship features in the map, and analysize the significance of the topological relations in the whole update of the electronic map. Then we introduce the topology generated and disposal method which is used for navigation path planning in electronic navigation map, and propose to ensure the road network topology updates with the map's updation.Chapter V: Based on the accurate analysis of the road network topological relations of navigation electronic map, we proposed a navigation electronic map's incremental update methods based on the maintenance of topological relations,and during the update process, data integrity mechanism, the matching mechanisms between update data and navigation electronic map data entities and geographic updateing consistency mechanism are put forward to guarantee the quality of the map update.Chapter VI:This chapter is the analysis and design of navigation electronic map's incremental update experimental system. We made a detailed analysis of system features,document management method, data query and update methods.Chapter VII:This is the summary of the full text,as well as an analysis of the direction of future research.Achievements included:summed up a more comprehensive existing mechanisms and models of electronic map navigation update, analyzed the problems of past map updates;proposed a data orgnization method and a physical storage method which is suitable for navigation electronic map data incremental update;studied the navigation electronic map topological generation method and proposed the concept of partial update of topological relations;proposed the concrete flow of navigation electronic map incremental update operation based on the topological maintenance,and implemente the updation of map topological relations;given the data integrity mechanism, the matching mechanisms between update data and navigation electronic map data entities and geographic updateing consistency mechanism during the update processgive the map update data integrity, update data and navigation electronic map data entities and geographic matching mechanism for consistency and map updating to update the idea of consistency;designed the navigation electronic maps incremental update system based on GPRS by adopting to Visual Basic and MapX, and then given the various functions described in detail.
