Along with the development of the car technology, more and more people have cars of their own. Considering the safety problem,people become interested in the vehicle auxiliary system which can warn people of the emergencies while they are driving. It can be expected that the vehicle auxiliary system have good prospects and will be widely used in the future.Automotive active safety systems with high permance are designed by combining the technology of image detection and Laser Ranging. These systems can monitor the lane condition with the technology of image detection and detect the distance between the vehicles with the technology of Laser Ranging. In addition,whenever the actual distance between the vehicle of the driver and the front one is shorter than the safe distance calculated by the systems, the systems can warn the driver of the danger so that he can slow down or brake. Thus the problem of rear-end collision can be solved effictively.Generally speaking, four parts are included in the thesis.First,we finish the hardware design of the systems.In the systems,S3C2410 work as mian controller and TMS320DM6437 functions as Co-processor according to the accuracy and real- time quality the vehicle safety systems. Moreover,the application of dual-core will improve the calculationg ability in testing the images.Second, in order improve the communication efficiency of the systems with the slave-module,CAN BUS is adopted as the main communication line from the main controller to other slave-module.Meanwhile, corresponding driver softwares have been developed.Third,devoted to Linux operating system,with it's excellent management ability we promote the response of the systems.Fourth,a collision calculating methods have been developed by analyzing the vehicle collision process. They help to warn the drivers and brake to secure their safety. Finally, based on summarizing the whole thesis, its weak points and furthur research direction are pointed out.
