As the increase of motorcycle quantity and production, the pollution of motorcycle emission and noise has attracted more and more attention from the society. Meanwhile the Emission and Noise Control Standard get much stricter, especially in order to meet the requirement of the newest Emission III , catalyst has been the standard choice for the motorcycle. Due to the structure character of motorcycle, the catalyze is always fixed with the muffler to be one part, which is the exhaust purified muffler .And that arose more requirement for the design of the motorcycle muffler.Based on the ZS-125 motorcycle research that is designed to meet the newest Emission III standard , and through the GT-Muffler software ,this article designs three types of muffler. Then we use them to computer coupled with the engine model from the GT-POWER. At the same time we use IL (Insertion Loss) and PL (Pressure Loss) to appraise the performance of the three types of muffler, and then we compare to get the best project. Otherwise we consider the effect of the catalyst to the muffler.Meanwhile this article does some research about the structure performance of the muffler through the analysis of the modal. So when we design the muffler which has some ranges of frequency that can go through the muffler, we should avoid the penetrated frequency in response to the modal frequency. So this result can give more advice to the muffler design. Also this article analyses the fluent of the emission air inside the muffler, that can make us know how the muffler works well. And the results can help us design the muffler.From the whole, this article does some research about the design of the exhaust purified muffler , which gives some ideas of the design...
