Reinforced soil retaining wall(RSRW) is a kind of composite structure composed with panel,reinforcement and fill.It was used widely as retaining structure in many types of civil engineering,such as highway engineering,water transport engineering,water conservancy project,railway engineering and so on.The study of performance behavior of RSRW is an important and practical problem in practice of geotechnical engineering.At the present time, the application and study of RSRW mainly deals with several problems,such as strength, deformation,stability,and so on.These problems are not well settled in practice.The situation limitis its popularization and application in theory.In this peper,the development history of reinforced earth is introduced.The feature of the polymer geogrids and the reinforced earth are also introduced and the reinforced mechanisms of polymer geogrids are analyzed:the friction theory and the pseudo cohesion concept theory.The author conducted a small scale model test.The deformation of the panel and the situation of the geogrids were analyzed.The results shows that the stiffness of the plate made a great impact on of the deformation mode of the RSRW,the nature of the soil and the content of the geogrids made a great impact on the size of the deformation.If the panel is flexible,the latter also affect the deformation mode.Considering the structure of RERW,the model made of soil element,reinforcement element and plate element is modeled.The RERW is calculated with the model.Discussed and analysed these sensitiveness parameters emphatically,which effect displacement of the reinforced soil retaining wall,such as the elastic mould of strip,the quantity of strip,the nature of soil etc.Have calculated the curve graph that they influences displacement of reinforced earth wall.Some regular conclusion which are benefic to the actual engineering are summed up.Based on the predecessors' analysis of the failure wedge assumption,the pressure distributions were studied.According to the theory of elastic foundation beam,the lateral deformation analysis model about RERW was present.Clear concept of the analytical model can reflect the main design parameters of the RERW on the impact of lateral deformation.
