The technology of reinforced soil is a new developing one of enhancing soil in the sixties of the 20th century, which has many good characters, such as light structure, strong adaptability ,economy and low capacity of the foundation. So it has a wide application in project. With the development of the technology of reinforced soil, the form of reinforced soil also appears the diversification, and the pre-stressed reinforced earth is a new one. As there is fewer research about pre-stressed reinforced earth in the foreign and domestic. The elementary theory of pre-stressed reinforced earth not yet forms, so further study and the consummation are needed. The paper does primary study about pre-stressed reinforced earth, and the main research work are as follows.(1)Sum up and develop characters and basic theory of reinforced soil.(2) Study interface friction characteristics geogrids and soil through drawing test and shearing test.(3) Study deformation and stiff change of geogrids through five group cycle installing-uninstalling test which has four stresses.(4) Study basic theory and methods of pre-stressed reinforced earth, and point out the finite element method and analysis process about pre-stressed reinforced earth.(5)Analyse and study the constructive model of soil, the constructive model of geogrids, the constructive model of panel, the constructive model of geogrids and soil's interface, which provides foundation for the constructive model of pre-stressed reinforced earth..(6)Through one detail project-embankment reinforced soil wall, the quantity of geogrids is calculated in the same deformation and the same load. At the same time, lateral deformation of panel is calculated in the same load and the same space of geogrids. And it can Provides the helpness for the project application.
