The paper described the design of a intelligent charging system for lead-acid batteries. including the research on charging methods and the design of the charging system.Based on the analysis of the charging theory brought and the investigation of many charging methods, the charging method is used which is the combination of constant-voltage and restricted-current charging method with pulse charging method.This method can make the charging current approached totally receivable charging electric current curve,and depolarizing measures are taken timely in charging of the batteries.The theory and the tests indicated that by application of the charge strategy,the time of charging was reduced and raised the charging efficiency.HSFP(High-Frequency Switching Power)was used in the designing,and this system was designed which was composed of a three-phase rectifying cell,a improving phase-shifted zero-voltage -switching PWM full-bridge cell and an energy recovery cell.And the charging control system was based on 80C196KB single-chip microcomputer minimum system,analogue detecting circuit,keyboard and led circuit,execution circuit.IGBT(Isolated Gate Bipolar transistor)was selected as the switch that was driven by EXB841 module,the phase shift control IC was UC3879.By collecting parameters of terminal voltage and charging current, then sent them to 80C196KB single-chip microcomputer,the on-off of IGBT was controlled, and the intelligent charging will be realized by this way.The experiment shows that,the intelligent charging based on 80C196KB single-chip microprocessor,its higher efficiency and the short adjusting time are brought into full play,the charging behaviors make battery have good capacitance and a long cycle life,and it can meet charging requirement for the battery of different electric vehicles.This charging system has a good application future,and provides a new and effective way for improving performance and reliability of the battery.
