As one of the mobility assistive devices for the disabled, the indoor rail-lift possesses exclusive advantage over the on ground mobility assistive devices, such as wheelchair. The problem with going to the bathtub and toilet can be easily solved by using the indoor rail-lift, and the complex ground situation is no longer a barrier. The indoor rail-lift has been developed well overseas. However the research and development on rail-lift are just in the very beginning stage in China. This thesis presents some exploratory research on the reliability and comfortness of the indoor rail lift.High-end rail lift can be ridden by the lower limb disabled patients independently, helping them move vertically and horizontally. So the reliability and comfortness of the lift is very important. ISO10535 gives the endurance testing method for the lift. Reliability technology has been developed for more than 60 years, and its use in industrial and commercial products leads to great social and economic benefit. This thesis focused on the reliability design and analysis for both the mechanical and electronic subsystem of the lift. A rail lift example is presented. As to the electronic subsystem, two methods including the components selection method based on reliability degree and the derating method are applied. Reliability estimation and distribution are also applied. The distribution-interference theory is used to analyze the reliability of the gear which is the most important component of the mechanical subsystem. A testing device is designed for the lift enduring experiment. The noise, vibration, velocity and etc. are important factors reducing the comfort. The above factors are analyzed. A device is developed to monitor the running state of the lift, and the acceleration of the sling is collected and analyzed.
