Soundscape Research

Visual and hearing are the most important sensories for people to cognize the objective world, which is known as an important viewpoint of Environmental psychology.However,the reseach and design on urban space always put more emphasis on visual than sound environment and hearing exchange. People gradually notice sound and realize that the research of sound was not just on noise rusult in the soundscape proposal.As present, there has a lot of research on soundscape itself,but using it on reseach of urban space need to be discussed,this paper will make a bold attempt on it.This dissertation takes the Hanzhengjie area as the research background and choose soundscape as the starting point.By some effective ways,such as field investigation, literature reading,statistical analysis and comparative study, we try to explorate the relationship between sound and people's behavior and find the regular pattern of informal urban space by soundscape.The entire paper divides into three parts. The first part is the theory of soundscape,describing its evaluation system and subject relations. The second part is the research of sounscape in Hanzhengjie area, we try to find the soundscape in history by literatures, and summarize the relationship between soundscape and people's behavior by investigation. The research of third part which is about soundscape and urban space explores the special point of soundscape in Hanzhengjie area and the influence to urban space.Soundscape plays an important role in shaping urban space.Soundscape in Hanzhengjie area is multiple and mixed, which represents complexity of informal urban space. And we can see the features of people's behavior through the soundscape study. The border of space is not only constructed by architecture, but also the field conditions of soundscape shape the space of people's daily life.
