Over the past 20 years, all big, medium or small cities of China have changed their own landscape very fast. However, a lot of them have been achieved in such a way that violets the ecological basic laws, which eventually leads to the damage of urban landscape ecology.Currently in China, the pros and cons of landscape construction is assessed simply based on the style attribute and external look of the landscape. The ecological impact has not gained sufficient attention and there is no mature system and method of evaluation. Hence, it is very necessary and urgent to study on the evaluation method of the landscape ecological functions.On the basis of re-considering of the problems associated with landscape construction, this paper used resource-saving and environment-friendly as a guideline, referred to the successful experience of landscape construction in foreign countries, analyzed landscape ecological functions from many different perspectives, including promoting rainwater infiltration, maintaining moisture level, alleviating runoff pollution, producing oxygen and absorbing carbon dioxide, impeding dust, reducing noise, improving microclimate, etc. On top of that, three (3) levels of evaluation index system containing sixteen (16) different criteria have been established. Appropriate methods based on AHP have also been adopted to evaluate the landscape ecological functions as a trial.Take Sixin in Wuhan for a case,the results of its landscape ecological functions evaluation is 77.3 points,which shows that the ecological functions of is in a middle level. Furthermore, the impact of urban construction in Sixin has been analized.The results indicate that the urban construction would make great influence on Sixin's landscape ecological functions.The functions of improving microclimate and alleviating runoff pollution would be weaken.This paper has synthesized the related reaserch results of runoff pollution control and gardens virescence, and exploited a new set of landscape evaluation index system.According to the application of case study, the rationality and applicability of the method is preliminary validated. Finally, this paper has explored on how to correctly evaluate landscape construction in a sustainable manner in the future, and brought out the practical evaluation system and method.
