The frame,as the most important part of heavy-duty truck,supports some accessories such as engine, drive line,running gear, body, and withstands all kind of force. Research on the loading characteristic of the truck frame not only is the groundwork of the design and optimization of a frame, but also is of great importance for the whole performance of truck.In this paper, taking a factory's heavy-duty truck production for the research subjects, create the frame finite element model with shell as basic unit in the software of HYPERMESH. At the same time, use the stress electric measurement techniques for frame study of static and dynamic tests. then coMPared the test data with finite element analysis results to verify and improve the accuracy of finite element model. Based on this model, the analysis and discuss of static characteristics of the vehicle frame are made, calculated the frame at two typical operating conditions of the stress distribution and deformation. The results show that most of the frame are smaller stress value, there is further room for lightweight. In addition, the article also had a frame modal analysis to calculate the frame of the natural frequency and corresponding modal type. Analysis result indicates natural frequency of frame having avoided the outstanding excitation frequency, which explains that structure is rational.Through The research of the paper, mastered the frame of the static characteristics and modal parameters, provided a theoretical foundation for the frame to further improve and optimize the design.
