Developed with liquid viscous transmission technology, liquid viscous coupling (LVC) are increasingly applied to Four-wheel-drive vehicles. However, the research on LVC applied on the full-time 4WD vehicles is relatively lagged in China. Embedded studies are undertaken based on the former researches in this paper.Shear torque calculation model of liquid viscous coupling is proposed. The influences of temperature and shear rate on silicone oil viscosity are considered and the formula for calculating the torque output of liquid viscous coupling is derived. The clearance between plates,the dimension of disk plates, the silicone oil viscosity , the filling rate and rotating speed difference are changed to analyze the torque characteristics.A comprehensive theory is proposed to explain the sequence of events that results in LVC. The proposed theory explains the conditions necessary for initiating and sustaining the self-induced torque amplification. Temperature, pressure calculation model and the amplified torque calculation model are proposed and the results tallies with the experimental data. This is of great significance to further research on torque amplification.Application of fluid analysis software Fluent, liquid viscous coupling of a two-phase flow has been calculated. Non-steady, compressible low Re k-e model are adopted in numerical simulation. The simulation results export distribution figure of pressure, oil distribution and other parameters of the flow field. Analysis of these results gained,slots and air distribution of liquid viscous coupling disks have an important impact on the characteristics of the viscous coupling. The results has a good agreement against the public research results, providing theory for design and study of liquid viscous coupling.A bench test bed about LVC is done, introduces the LVC testing system's test principle,system structure and data gather control system. The test about LVC is made, compares the test result with dynamic simulation result and analyses the difference of them.
