With the development of technology and quality of people's lives. People's requirements for the integrated performance of auto has increased .Suspension systems have a close relationship with the ride comfort and handling and stability of vehicles. Traditional suspensions cannot satisfy the requirements best at the same time. The study on active/semi-active suspension system (ASS\SASS) is becoming more and more urgent. The semi-active suspension can not only put up with the performance limit of the passive suspension but also can over come the short comings of high cost in economic and fuel consumption comparing with active suspension.However, people have more and more attention on applying suspension basing on magnetorheolological (MR) damper which can fit its damper force by changing viscous damping coefficient continuously.This paper establishes a whole multi-body model of vehicle by ADAMS/Car. Octa-Plate control method (OPCM) was adopted. The vehicle's body motion was disassembled to vertical, rolling, pitching motion. Fuzzy logical and variable universe fuzzy logical controller is designed based on magnetorheolological damper's principle and fuzzy logical and variable universe fuzzy logical theory. Control subsystems are established by MATLAB/Simulink to control body's motion. Through co-simulation with ADAMS/Car and Simulink, it analyses ride comfort of vehicle with passive suspension and semi-active suspension has different control theories. The co-simulation shows the method, where no complex dynamic equation and transfer function is needed, offers a better new approach that can highly enhance the efficiency, cut down the time and cost of of design. Meanwhile, the results of simulation with pulse and random input are compared and analyses. That concludes can be got: semi-active suspension with magnetorheolological damper can decrease vibration of vehicle and improve ride comfort. Variable universe fuzzy logic not only has advantage of fuzzy logical but also overcome the disadvantage of it.It can take more effect than fuzzy logic. At last, the virtual vehicle test on the blocking test stand and road validate the control strategy again. It provides reference to researching and designing semi-active suspension .
