Pipeline transport is the main means of energy transmission. Pipelines play a rather important position in the modern industrial production and people's lives. However, the history of disasters shows that underground pipelines vulnerable to earthquake damage and disruption caused by system failures, which may have a variety of secondary disasters to people's lives and property. Therefore, it is great significant for us to study the analysis of seismic damage of underground pipelines for reducing urban disaster.Compaired with ground pipelines, buried pipelines sustain many load beside the load on the ground, such as back to soil weight caused by external pressure; the pressure of wheels or static load of ground; the force of unequal subsidence. So it can clearly be seen that the buried pipelines are more complicated than ground pipelines. This paper analyzed the environmental factors on the effects of buried pipeline. Then based on the elasticity and finite element method, wave theory, the theory of vibration, as well as the relative deformation theory, the effects of buried pipeline under seismic stress were analyzed.Buried pipelines are surrounded by soil. But due to the seismic waves, soil and pipelines generate deformation and vibration. At the same time, the pipe and soil is no longer maintain the flexible combination. For the characteristics of the movement of the buried pipeline, the text established the interaction model of buried pipeline. Futhermore, application of ANSYS finite element software for buried pipeline simulation experiments, we obtained the dynamic response situation of buried pipelines under the seismic waves.According to the characteristics of damage of buried pipeline, and the results from the calculation and analyses, protective measures should to be taken in project design and construction.
