Research On Stress Test Of Roadway Network Capacity

City roadway network is the integrated system of basic physical infrastructure, transportation carriers and other factors. With the rapid economic development, the pace of urbanization and mobility requirement of road traffic is moving so fast that the traffic pressure on the roadway network increases and traffic congestion aggravates, which beset people's lives and travel. Needless to say, it is critical to plan the urban roadway network and determine roadway capacity to balance traffic demand and supply today. Roadway network capacity is a very important index to carry out comprehensive urban road network evaluation and a base to solve the traffic problems above-mentioned, thus, it is necessary to establish a research method of roadway network capacity now.According to reading relevant references, it is found that the availability and accuracy of research on roadway network capacity in existence is poor. Thus, first of all, this paper analyses the significance and object of the research, and ascertain the research method which studies roadway network capacity from a new perspective which applies stress test method to the field of transportation, adopts the theoretical thinking of experimental traffic engineering. And then it sums up the research history and actuality of roadway network capacity and stress test, studies the advantages and disadvantages of research ways of roadway network capacity, consults the stress test method and process in other industries. Then, basing on experimental traffic engineering, it presents the concept, sort, characteristic and strategy, considers the factors affecting capacity of road network and evaluation index system of road network operation quality, and then chooses suitable stress test tool and establishes the stress test method and process of road network capacity. At last, it applies the method to roadway network of Huairou District in Beijing to determine the ultimate capacity that road network can bear, and provides theoretical support to the urban road network quality evaluation, road network planning and traffic management and control.
