Research On Thickness Measurement Of Cable Insulation Layor Based On Image Processing

The issue is mainly directed against the research of testing and measuring cable insulation layer thickness and size. The traditional measuring method is to use the projector. Although this method has its own advantages, the operation is very tedious and the readings is inconvenient. In addition there are more subjective factors. So this paper puts forward a kind of method of measuring cable insulation layer thickness parameters. This method is a combination of the traditional optical methods and the measurement technique based on digital image.According to the measurement requirement of cable insulation layer, the thickness measurement system based on computer vision is designed. The system mainly includes two important components. They are namely hardware (digital image acquisition system) and software (digital image processing and measurement systems).According to the the design principles and requirements of software system, using VC++ we design simple and applied operation interface, and write the software program for measurement based on image processing. In order to remove noise of cable insulation layer image and ensure the integrity of edge information of the image, it is required to pre-processing the cable insulation layer image. Through the analysis of system environment, median filtering is adopted to remove noise of the image. Furthermore in order to meet the accuracy of edge contour extraction, binarization processing is applied in the image before edge detection. Aiming at the requirements for measurement, the image edge detection algorithm based on phase information is used to extract the edge outline through the specific analysis and comparison of various edge detection algorithm. Finally the parameter measurement system is applied in the practice of cable insulation layer thickness measurement. The first step is that the calibration method of cable insulation layer thickness measurement system is introduced and the measurement parameter k is confirmed. The following is that the paper introduces the specific measurement method of thickness parameter detailedly. The method is that seeking the center of circle, and finding out the thinnest point of cable insulation layer thickness, then six points selected interval 60-degree angle based on this point are measured. And the results of actual measurement are exported. We analyze the error source of system data concretely in the paper.The proof shows that the measurement system is easy to operate and has high precision and application value.
