This article's research meaning lies in that wire and cable plays a very important role in our national production and life,at the same time electricity is a kind of dangerous energy.So we must pay attention to the detection of wire and cable products.In the view of the situation that the method used in the current national standard is to use a microscope or a projector which the magnification is more than 10 times to detect the insulation layer thickness.This method's reading speed is slow,easily making errors and other shortcomings.It is hardly to adapt to the increasing demand for inspection and increasing the detection accuracy requirements.Therefore,this article focuses on the tool of machine vision to apply it,proposes using MATLAB to carry on digital image processing,then detection of the insulation thickness of wire and cable can become more simple and accurate.The main work and achievements of this article are as follows:1.The measurement system is composed of hardware part and software part.Hardware parts use VMS-2515 image measuring instrument.The software part is based on MATLAB to write program to processing the collected wire and cable insulation image and measure the thickness.2.The image processing in this article includes:First,the collected true color bitmap needs to be transformed into a grayscale.Then the maximum interclass variance method is used to determine the threshold value of the image in order to the binarization of the image.Then median filtering is used to denoise.The Sobel edge detection operator is used to detect the edge.Then the image is further processed by dilation and thinning of morphology.3.Using the Hough transform circle to measure the thickness.Use GUI components to complete the human-computer interaction interface editing,so we can achieve the insulation thickness of wire and cable measurement and data output.At last through the system calibration,we can convert the pixel values obtained using MATLAB into the values we actually use.4.The practical application shows that the machine vision measurement system is easy to use and greatly improving the efficiency and accuracy of measurement.It is worth promoting.Wire and cable insulation shapes are diverse,we should base on different insulation cross-sectional shape design other testing programs in the follow-up development,and improve the system.
