There are two differnent drive types applying in electric vehicle nowadays. That is DC drive system and AC drive system. Due to the advantage of AC drive system in performance and service, AC technique is applied to the design and manufacture ofelectric forklift trucks. AC technique make a great improve for forklift trucks. That tend to become perfectly in Lindon and Junghinrich foreign capital corporation. Because the technique is behindhand in China ,that restrict the development of forklift. As now technique, AC drive system is applied extensive more and more. We must learn this to make the national forklift industry stronger.This paper firstly summarizes the status of AC system and introduces the principle, structure,and control method. Explaining the superiority of AC system. It analyzes the operating characteristics of induction motor in electric forklift trucks and the control method for the controller that using in the trucks. An example of the AC drive technique in trucks is presented to demonstrate this application. It introduces selection and calculation method for essential parts of trucks and the parameter adjustment for induce motor as well as the optimization method for performance of the drive system. It also enumerate data test of forklift.The paper is very significance to the design and optimization for the drive system of the new generation electric forklift trucks.
