The fiber optic gyroscope is a kind of velocity sensors based on Sagnac effect. Using fiber optic gyroscope rotate speed can be measured through measuring the difference of two lights along clockwise and counter-clockwise. Because the fiber optic gyroscopes have the significant features, the researches on it have become hot topics in recent years. Nowadays, low and medium precision fiber optic gyroscope have been widely used on the inertial measurement system of civil equipment and military tactical weapons, and the many research organizations of the world are also paying attention to promote the precision of gyro and decease the cost of production. The presentation of digital demodulation method and the development of digital signal procession technology provide the material base and technological support of the continual development of FOG.This thesis systemically introduced the principle of FOG, analyzed the principle of changing of PZT phase modulator by different temperature, the influent factors of PZT towards FOG performance, what is more, analyzed how the changing of modulating depth would influence the FOG output, presented a new method of digital demodulation, and evaluated its improved approaches. In order to realize the digital demodulation method, this thesis designed a program of signal generation, detection and demodulation, in addition, analyzed some important problems in designing the program, presented the solutions. Taking advantage of Matlab-aided signal processing function, designed a high performance FIR filter. Moreover, presented a new method of Taylor series to realize the arc tangent function, and finding the key parameters of algorithm.
