The rutting is one kinds of the major failures for asphalt pavement. As a result of the large volume channelized truck traffic, rutting has become more and more prominent in asphalt pavements.Firstly,by using marshall compaction method and wheel-grind method to molding asphalt mixture,It was analysed in this paper that the volume parameters of the asphalt mixture including volume of air voids, voids in mineral aggregate and voids filled with asphalt. The results showed that wheel-grind method by 12 times would not meet the standard density of marshall compaction. When asphalt mixture was conducted marshall test to make road performance detection,we should increase rolling times to control the quality of the asphalt mixture so that the asphalt mixture would meet the standard compactness.Secondly,AC—13 and AC—16 were selected to do rutting test.It was analysed that gradation types, oil stone ratio and the number of rolling effecting the anti-rutting performance of asphalt mixture.Coring boring after rutting, the air voids of the rut trough was smaller than the pre-rutting and both sides of track, the asphalt mixture of the rut trough flowed to both sides, the air voids of the rut trough would not largen. It was shown the air voids of the rut trough reduced during the initial stage of the rutting. Finally, modified Burgers model and layer-strain method were used to calculate the deformation.
