High-rise buildings with connecting structures are the complicated building structures. They have been widely used in engineering projects in recent years. They are flexible to arrange the structures and save investment. Theory and design method of two-tower connecting structures have been researched by many scholars and engineers, but few studies have been done in three-tower connecting structures. As the three-tower connecting structures have been widely used in building engineering, the research on its performance under various load conditions is more important. This thesis analyses the major essential factors which influence evidently the performance of the three-tower connecting structures under various load conditions, and provides scientific basis for structural design, and lays down the foundation for further research.Main studies of this thesis are as follows:First of all, the calculating model and calculating methods of design of the connecting structures are introduced.Secondly, based on the analysis of single-tower structures and two-tower connecting structures, three-tower connecting structures formed with three symmetrical towers linked with connecting structures on the top stories are studied. Still, the dynamic behaviors of the three-tower connecting structures, such as mode shape, period, the joining quality of the mode shape in all directions, are analyzed. Besides, the displacement response of the structures, the story shear and story moment, the displacement of joints between connectors and towers, and the acceleration history under horizontal earthquake in all directions are discussed, some meaningful conclusions have been obtained.Thirdly, the regular changing patterns of the structural performance under the influence of the plan layout of the towers are analyzed. The change of the dynamic behaviors of the structures in three plan layouts, including the mode shape patterns, the characteristics of the directions of the mode shape are considered. The reactions of the structures under earthquake are also discussed.Fourthly, the structural performance is studied when the connectors'positions are changed. The regular changing patterns of the dynamic behaviors and its seismic responses are considered under the change of connectors in four positions in elevation when the three towers are in the angles of either 90°or 180°in plan layout. The regular changing patterns of dynamic behaviors of the structures and its seismic responses are analyzed in the change of the connectors'numbers in either both sides or one side when the three towers are in the angle of 135°in plan layout.Fifthly, the influence and regular changing patterns of dynamic behaviors of the structures are also researched under the change of connecting patterns between connectors and towers and the change of the stiffness of connectors.Sixthly, based on the above studies, a lot of helpful suggestions for design of three-tower connecting structures have been proposed.
