The optimal power flowing (OPF) is a typical nonlinear programming problem. The constant enlargement of the scope of the power system makes the number of the variables and constraint conditions increase, and make the OPF problem complex. Recently, intelligent optimization algorithms provide new thoughts and methods for solving the large-scale nonlinear programming problem. By analyzing and comparing many kinds of OPF algorithms and research status, this paper proposes the GAAA algorithm that is the combination of the genetic algorithm and the ant algorithm. This method not only remains Genetic algorithm good quality of solution, but uses Ant algorithm classification parallel algorithm,so improves the time efficiency and the calculation accuracy at the same time. The paper use the IEEE system to test the algorithm, the results shows that the proposed algorithm is practicable and effective.
