With the development of scientific technology, the requirement of aircraft horizontal measurement technology is growing. The traditional measurement method and device have become the bottleneck of the production. The optical 3D large-size measurement technique, which has the advantages of large measurement scale, high accuracy, high generality, high flexibility and automatic measurement, has becomes the primary technique for measuring the geometry of large-size object.In this paper, by reviewing related technique literature data and analyzing domestic and overseas advanced measure technique, a new method of the aircraft horizontal measurement by using laser radar has been proposed. Based on the laser radar measurement system, the principle analysis and structure design have been performed. The design of horizontal measurement has been carried out on the basis of the principle. Besides, some crucial techniques related to horizontal measurement, like transmission station measurement, alignment process of measuring data and mathematic model, CCD image process and etc, have been analyzed and proposed. The geometric error of measurement system and some error factors which effect on the distance and angle measurement have been analyzed and discussed.
