Once the dam has safety hazard, it would have threats to people’s lives and propertysafety. If an accident occurs, it would bring great disaster and loss. So it is very important totake measures and pay attention to the dam safety monitoring. With the development of themeasures of dam safety monitoring to the automation monitoring direction, the need for safetymonitoring automation measuring instrument is particularly prominent.Based on laser scan concept, designed a automatic wire alignment meter for measuringthe dam horizontal displacement. Compared with several commonly used wire alignmentmeter, this paper proposed a new method of the wire alignment meter.A laser from the laser diode as a light source, the photodiode as a receiver for receivinglocation information, after photoelectric conversion and binarization processing, the maincontroller STM32F107control the system for data acquisition and calculation. The result ofthe horizontal displacement then automatically be saved in the onchip FLASH.Based on the STM32F107as the main controller, the system transplanted μC/OS-ⅡandμC/GUI, and achieved the human-computer interaction via TFTLCD touch screen. It achievedtaskes such as the real-time display, set machine number and corridor number, manual andautomatic measurement, USB data download, and communication with the host computer viaRS485.According to the analysis of dam safety monitoring requirements, this paper proposedthe overall program, elaborated the principle of the instrument, given the hardware design andsoftware implementation, carried out the error and stability experiment. It compliance withthe industry standards, and it is a small volume, automated, low cost instrument.
