Heating, electricity, gas, oil, water and etc. public pipelines facilities were referred to as "the lifeline of town"; they are one of the most important infrastructures to ensure the normal city operation. The city pipeline system accidents cause not only the major economic losses, but also the enormous adverse impact on society. With the rapid lowering of the water table coursed by the development of city, and the growing of non-standard dewatering construction during building the large buildings, the numbers of factors that trigger the foundation settlement are increasing; the pipeline safety effect caused by large area or partial foundation settlement which is caused by the lowering or rising of the water table is prominent increasingly. Because of its installed form and other reasons, the effect of the city buried pipelines caused by the foundation settlement is more obvious, and the destruction is more prominent. But at present, the study on the buried pipeline safety effect caused by dewatering settlement is very limitedThe paper has researched the buried pipeline safety effect caused by dewatering settlement. First of all, the thesis summed up the characteristics, uses, materials and construction methods of the buried pipeline, analyzed the basic elements of the settlement. After the relationship qualitative analysis between groundwater and the settlement, based on the Terzaghi's effective stress principle, the analysis of this paper established the pipeline theoretical model under soil weight when dewatering settlement occurred. The numerical simulation part of the thesis, set up the pipeline and soil interaction finite element model, have found the stress-strain results via analyzed the buried pipeline effect caused by dewatering settlement. By the results of the statistical analysis, the vulnerability region on the pipeline when dewatering settlement occurred and the relationship between Pipeline settlement value, maximum stress, pipeline diameter deformation and pipeline depth, pipe diameter, thickness, water level has been found. It shows that the difference of the soil types would have an important impact on the pipeline dewatering settlement difference. Finally, the rule of the buried pipeline safety effect caused by dewatering settlement has been found. The pipeline design, operation and maintenance can be guided by the rule to avoid the buried pipeline safety effect caused by dewatering settlement.
