At present, the research of seismic and wind-resistent are often limited to a particular analysis method. Very few people summarized and analyzed the bridge design concepts and methods both in the earthquake and wind from the viewpoint of conceptual design systematically and deeply. Even no one compare bridge design concepts and methods of seismic with wind-resistant.In order to use the bridge design concepts flexibly and reasonably and avoid the pursuit of a particular aspect of performance which leads to blindfold and complex calculation, this article summarized the similarities and differences between them through compared their design concepts and methods which can help future comparisons of bridge design concepts and methods of seismic and wind-resistant.This article introduced:1. A summary and analysis of the concepts of bridge seismic design and methods is based on the previous studies. This article mainly introduces the application of ductility seismic design of bridges and seismic isolation structures. For example of Sutong Bridge, it supports the thesis' view by analysis and research of its seismic system.2. A summary and analysis of the concepts of wind-resistant design and design methods is based on the previous studies. This article mainly introduces the bridge evaluation of the probability of wind vibration, as well as the bridges theoretical research of the wind vibration. For example of Sutong Bridge, it supports the thesis' view by the comparison of its skew wind effect reasonable system.3. This paper analyzed and compared the failure modes, design principles, fortification standards, design concepts and response analysis methods of bridges in the earthquake and wind. For example of Sutong Bridge, this article analyzed and researched its structural system.According to the result of analysis by example, it indicated that there are similarities and differences in bridge design concepts and methods of seismic and wind-resistant. This paper provides the basis for future further study and mutual learning in bridge design concepts and methods of seismic and wind-resistant.
