Because energy shortages and environmental problems become more prominent, engine control technology and clean energy research concern is gaining more attention. Meanwhile, there are abundant gas resources in our country. And the application of alternative fuels in gaseous engines has important practical significance. Low exhaust emissions and fuel consumption can be obtained by using gaseous fuel (compressed natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas) in motor vehicles. The application of natural gas (NG) vehicles is very active in recent years. And natural gas vehicles accounted for a very high market share among the city's bus and taxi. The application of natural gas has attracted the world attention because it is a clean fuel. Many domestic and foreign research institutes are committed to study the automotive engine fueled with natural gas.On the basis of the study of improving the dynamic performance of natural gas engine, this paper design the gas fuel engine electronic control system, which includes: the engine speed signal, throttle position signal to the engine operating conditions, considering the study of the gaseous engine control technology and the current experimental conditions. To control some functions of the engine fuel supply and the optimally air-fuel ratio after the open-loop control system and closed-loop control strategy are determined. The emphases of the open-loop control system are the engine power character and the timing of fuel supply, while the emphases of the closed-loop control systems are to improve fuel economy through collecting real-time oxygen sensor signal to control the fuel-air ratio optimally. The control of the engine ignition timing and temporarily closed angle is also dominated by current ECU of gasoline engine. The purposes of designing gaseous fuel engines are the below two: one is to improve the current engine control system and to make it more responsive to different engine operating conditions and to improve the engine starting, accelerate power characteristics and the major economy under part-load operating conditions. The other is to provide the essential references for designing the single gaseous engines' ECU. The experimental results show that the control of fuel supply system and the step motor response can fully meet the design requirements for gaseous fuel engines. The design reaches the expected effects. The system software design is scientific rational and realistic. It provides the necessary essential platform and the applying conditions for further development of gaseous engines' ECU.
