With the development of port, highway, railway and high architecture, the lateral pile has been applied broadly in engineering of bridge, port, dock, offshore platform. It becomes the controlling factors of design in some important engineering. Being have high bending capacity, the straight pile or anomalous pile is used to stead of the sloping pile to bear lateral load.The pile with branches and plates is the recent development of a new type of pile. The pile with branches and plates has a high carrying capacity, good solid embedded and more economical characteristics, so it has a wide range of applications. At present, the vertical bearing capacity of the disc pile has been increasingly recognized by people, and much research about it has been done in the world. While little is about the horizontal resistant performance of piles. This paper introduces the characteristics of the disc pile, construction process and research status. Four groups of model test have been done in order to research and analysis the the horizontal resistant performance of disc pile which with different branch numbers and different disk-based location, then compare to the ordinary equivalent diameter pile. At last, ABAQUS finite element analysis software is used to numerical simulation and analysis the bearing capacity of the disc pile under horizontal loads.In the branch-pile different locations paste strain gages planted in the soil and the pressure cell, can be measured in the corresponding data. By studying the collected data, we analysis the load transfer mechanism of the pile and soil pressure changes around the pile, which the disc pile under the horizontal loads. The study found that as the role of disc, the disc piles have better horizontal carrying capacity and better capacity that balance the pile bending moment than the ordinary pile. The disc Locates in the upper part of the pile have batter results than its in the lower when the pile is used to resisted the horizontal loads. A reasonable disc location can make the rotation center of the pile upper, then reduce the horizontal displacement of the pile.
