Because of convenience and low cost, the technology of stone arch bridge strengthened by reinforced concrete with hooping bars is more and more widely applied in the southwest region, but there is no load bearing capacity calculation methods of stone and reinforced concrete composite material in design codes at present. To solve practical problems in the project, the research of this paper is as the follows:1. Summarrized the research status of strengthening bridge, and commonly research methods of strengthening stone bridge and the technology of stone arch bridge strengthened by reinforced concrete with hooping bars.2. Designed and produced 12 sets of eccentric column of using reinforced concrete with hooping bars to strengthen stone masonry. Records of the specimen of the ultimate load bearing capacity, failure modes, the load bearing capacity-strain relationship, analyzed the thickness of reinforced concrete, eccentricity, the longitudinal reinforcement ratio and stirrups ratio change parameters on the load bearing capacity.3. This thesis put forward that the mechanism and several different destruction of the form about using reinforced concrete with hooping bars to strengthen stone arch bridge. Different methods of analysis and calculation are used on the basis of destruction of the form and the main force .4. Through comparison on test results and analysis, and considering above general factors, we set up a formula for calculating the bearing capacity of reinforced concrete strengthening stone arch bridge when reinforced concrete as the main force. Calculated results are safe compared with the measured data and can be as a provide reference for reinforcement design.
