Lower carrying capability, material aging and damages in exising bridges have been concerned all over the world. Relevantly maintenance, evaluation and reconstruction for existing bridges have become the focus in the engineering. Now the stone arch bridges in our country are commonly short of carrying capacity and have been damaged over years. And the stone arch bridge strengthened by reinforced concrete with hooping bars is a new technique to that situation. In this paper, based on the tests, the behavior of arch stone bridge strengthened by reinforced concrete with hooping bars have been studied, mainly include:1,The experiments were carried out to two groups of masonry specimens strengthened by reinforced concrete with hooping bars with different parameters and to specimen unstrengthened.2,Based on the experiment data, the actul load-strain diagrams were drawn; then design the academic stress-strain constitutional relationship model about concrete and stone masonry, enter the actul strain into the model ,get the academic load-strain diagrams, which compared with the actul one , prove that the academic stress-strain constitutional relationship model about concrete and stone masonry designed was right.3,The stress and deflections to a actual bridge are calculated and analysed at the stage of strengthening process and service time. The research works in this thesis, which can provide some technology data for the engineering practice in the future and have some reference value to the similar works is very important to the highway traffic development in our country.
