AMT (Automated mechanical transmission) is renovated from traditional manual transmission by replacing the manual actuator with a set of electrical control system. Since AMT has advantages like simple structure, low cost and excellent fuel economy, it has become one of the focuses of the study on automatic transmission. As the core control system of AMT, the electrical control system must have high reliability and certain fault-tolerant ability, this paper just based on this background and studied on online fault diagnosis and processing for AMT electrical control system. Previous research papers mostly studied in broad terms but not specific, this paper focused on online fault diagnosis and processing of various components in this system, and laid a foundation for fault diagnosis and processing of AMT.This paper first summarized the constituent of AMT electrical control system and decomposed this system into three parts - TCU (transmission control unit), sensors and actuators, then analyzed work principle, input and output characteristic of each component.After detailed analysis, online fault diagnosis logic for AMT electrical control system was established and the diagnosis flow path was divided into three hiberarchies: online fault diagnosis of TCU, sensors and actuators. First, a model of self-monitoring TCU was established to ensure that it works properly; then work principle and logical relationship of the sensors were analyzed, and online diagnosis logic for sensors was designed. Online fault diagnosis for sensors was divided into two steps: the first step was inspection of output signals'range and stability, and the second step was inspection based on logic redundant information. At last, online fault diagnosis logic for actuators was designed according to ECU order and sensor feedback.Finally, specific solutions for fault processing were provided according to automobile fault processing principles, and some experimental verification was also carried out.
