In recent years, the global energy shortage and environmental pollution problems are being increasingly prominent, people earnestly hope to apply a new technology to save energy and protect environment. Photovoltaic power as renewable energy is pollution-free and inexhaustible. So, photovoltaic power technology is getting more and more attention. Also, people pay more and more attention to the semiconductor illumination for its remarkable merits such as longevity, energy saving, green environmental protection and so on. Therefore, it is considered as the most valuable, new light source in the 21st century. In this thesis, we mainly focus on photovoltaic power and white light emitting diode (LED) illumination, and demonstrate the design of solar semiconductor illuminating system.The solar array have different maximum power point (MPP) at different temperature and irradiation. In order to increase the utilization ratio of solar array, a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) method should be taken to maximize its output power at any temperature and irradiation. In this thesis incremental conductance method was used to realize MPPT which improves the utilization ratio of solar array.The charging and discharging control of battery affects its operating life significantly. In this thesis, we put forward a special two-step charging strategy which consists of MPPT charging and constant voltage charging, this method not only improves the utilization ratio of solar array but also prolongs operating life of battery. We design DS18B20-based circuit to compensate the threshold voltage during the charging and discharging procedure.After analyzing the characteristic of LED, we design and produce a constant current driving circuit based on HV9910 for LED lamp to meet the lighting requirements.Finally, the solar semiconductor illuminating system controller was designed both in software and hardware, a solar semiconductor illuminating system was constructed and some parameters were tested and analyzed.
