Oscilloscopes are widely used in measuring and testing fields as general-purpose electronic devices. At present, there are many oscilloscopes of different performance and different types at home and broad. They are divided into two categories according to their implementation mechanism, such as traditional analog oscilloscopes and digital oscilloscopes. Through much market research and related data collection, we know that the vast majority digital oscilloscopes base on large-scale integrated circuits (ASIC) or digital signal processor (DSP) as their core controller, they still retain the traditional oscilloscopes' type in operating interface and human-computer interaction, and their intelligent, networking, audio and video, external storage, and support of communications interface can not meet the need for equipment information application. With the rapid development of computer technology and network technology, the embedded network devices composed of embedded technology and network technology, can solve that problem.This project combines embedded system and traditional oscilloscope technology. We develop a digital storage oscilloscope, being intelligent and having digital fluorescent effect, which is based on Intel XScale PXA 270 embedded CPU and Windows CE.NET operating system. Its purpose is introducing a new intelligent oscilloscope product for the market. Our oscilloscope can not only have the traditional oscilloscopes' functions, but also can provide a variety functions, including flexible operating modes, intelligent analysis and processing of being-tested signal, network, audio, video, RS232 serial port, SD card, master/slave USB interface, and embedded EVC language programming etc. These can provide hardware and software supports for implementing the following functions, such as, long-range test, test navigation, fault diagnosis expert system, ad hoc network collaboration and so on. Those features make oscilloscope a more broadly application areas.This paper introduces the domestic and international high-speed data acquisition and the status of oscilloscope technological development, analyzes the advantages and weaknesses of the current general-purpose oscilloscope, and comes to the need for designing embedded oscilloscope. And then we propose the design idea for a 200MHz bandwidth, real-time sampling 1GSa/s intelligent, network-based embedded digital phosphor oscilloscope. This paper introduces implementations of system functions, structure design, hardware subsystems, kernel subsystem, and oscilloscope application subsystem in detail.
