A Study Of Improving The Carrying Capacity Of Longchuan North Station

Longchuan North Station is located in the junction of Beijing-Kowloon railway and Zhangzhou-Longyan railway, and shoulders organization of wagon flow of Guangdong and Fujian areas. With accomplishment of the project of the double-track line of Guangdong section of Beijing-Kowloon railway, the carrying capacity of regional lines has been greatly increased, and the capacity of Longchuan North marshalling station is a limit of the transport system. The capacity of stations and sections of the system have become increasingly uncoordinated.In order to enhance the capacity of the Longchuan North Station and coordinate the capacity of the station and sections, the station's technical operation capacity is studied systematically in this dissertation based on system analysis and simulation methods.The main contents of the thesis include: (1) Analysis on the characteristics of the station's technical operation and the usage of technical equipments; (2) Analysis on the main factors influencing the station's technical operation capacity; (3) study of the station's technical operation capacity; (4) Simulating the main technological process at marshalling station; (5) Strategy and measures to improve the railway system capacityThe results of the study shows carrying capacity at Longchuan North Station is 98.7(trains), the carrying capacity of freight train is limited at the carrying capacity of the receiving-departure tracks. At present, utilizing rate of the carrying capacity has been up to 90% in No.1 receiving-departure yard, so the full use of carrying capacity in sections linking up the station has been affected. Analysis on the operational status shows that the low break-up capacity at the station is the most prominent factor influencing the existing carrying capacity in the receiving-departure tracks. The objective original reasons are the more train destinations and the small wagon flows, shortage of sorting tracks and so on. At the same time, the station's operation organization and management also are factors influencing the resorting capacity at the station.Improving Longchuan North Station's the operation capacity is the focus to advance system carrying capacity of the lines. The main ways are: (1)to optimize transport organization and management and improve the harmonious matching ability of operation system, such as compressing duty shifting time, increasing the speed of shunting locomotive, arranging shunting locomotive preparedness operations and use, and optimizing the operating organization. All of these can increase the resorting capacity of the marshalling station. (2)to expand the capacity of the operational system, such as increasing the number of operating equipments and adopting advanced operating system technologies. Concrete measures are increasing the number of shunting locomotives and implementing parallel working diagram, and enlarging the station into an one-way two stage with four yards, to increase systematically the operating capacity of the station.
