With the two newly-built railway lines Chongqing-Huaihua Railway and Xiangfan-Chongqing Railway crossing here, an increasing number of wangon will be put into transportation, which will bring about difficulties for the station, in the long run, hindering the economic growth of Chongqing.This essay introduces several solutions to the problems; further the future development of Chongqing West Railway Station.Firstly, in the light of present conditions, features and function of the Chongqing West Railway Station, by careful analysis and calculation of the data gathered, we conclude that as a key junction, the capacity of arriving, departing and marshalling of the station can be 5341 wangon per day.Secondly, in the light of the future development of transportation industry, the establishment of the East Terminal for Containers and the intersection of Chongqing-Huaihua Railway, Suining-Chongqing Railway, scientifically analyzing the factors interfering with the practice of the station, the author concludes it's imperative to extend the station.Thirdly, based on function and features of the station, the author presents a couple of feasible options to innovate and extend the station.Fourthly, Since there will be more wangon to be organized and more alternative ways to choose to extend the station, the author believes that the best extending plan is to build up a new arriving and departing yard in East Chongqing, which will perfect the transportation system of the city, promoting the economic construction.Fifthly, the author analysizes, verifies and testifies the feasibility and comprehensive benefits of the newly-developed arriving and departing yard in East Chongqing, confirming its capacity as a key junction of arriving, departingand marshalling.Sixthly, the essay explores the long-term plan for the advance of the station, which will be beneficial to future research.In conclusion, it is valuable to launch a through study and make an overall program for Chongqing West Railway Station---the most important marshalling station in Chongqing, which will be helpful to solve the problems in transportation system, to improve the capacity of transportation system. As a result, it will satisfy the need of social and economic development of Chongqing.
