Heavy metals, volatile organic compounds and some persistent organic pollutants in the packaging materials may migrate into the atmosphere, water system and soil by contacting with food, directly emitting, burying ground and transformation, which will be a great danger to human health and environment. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in packaging materials mainly come from the adhesive, printing ink and organic agents used in packaging production and the residual VOCs will immigrate to the inner substances and pollute the environment. This paper is concerned about the residual VOCs in packaging materials of 5 compound materials of OPP/PP, PET/CPE, PET/WMPET/PE, BOPP/PET/AL/PE and PE/PET/PE by SPME-GC/MS. Acetone, ethyl acetate, 2-Butanone, isopropyl alcohol, p-xylene, o-xylene, m-xylene, dimethylbenzene, isobutyl acetate, 2,4-pentandione, decane, benzaldehyde and n-undecane are detected in these five compound packagings. And the detection method can be applied to determine all these 14 VOCs concerned above for different kinds of packaging materials. Using the detection method in this paper, the influences of environmental temperature and medium on immigration of VOCs in the packaging are calculated. These data are a great help to the further research on VOCs immigration coefficient and helpful to build different immigration models.
