Study with flow pattern of high-shear mixer, the present application and development situation both home and abroad of high-shear mixer have been analyzed.economical value and engineering significance of the device have been expounded. The theoretics of Macro-flow field, mixing field, energy characteristics in high-shear mixer have been analysed, and have been used to predict the key structure and operation parameter have an effect on flow patternof mixing region and mixing scale.Numerical investigations of the flow patterns within a combining high-shear mixer have been conducted for visualization and anlysis by using a commercial computation fluid dynamics software, and acquired the flow phenomenons of key mixing regions which are usually difficulty to demonstrate by visualized experiments. The pressure field and velocity field and the distribution of shear rate, turbulent intensity, energy dissipating rate has been investigated using sliding mesh method with standardκ-εturbulence model.Oil-water emulsification experiment has been conducted under the IKA high-shear mixer acording to the method of orthogonal design. Response mathematic model of oil-water emulsification to investigate the relationship of mixing scale against operation parameters covering rotational speed and stirring time. The result of experiment discover that rotation speed play a more important role than stirring time, and which make a certain guiding sense to design industrial application of high-shear mixer system.In order to recognize flow patterns which generated by different stirrer of high-shear mixer,a visualization experiment equipment which closed to industrial scale has been designed. Three types of high-shear stirrer have been experimented using the method of tracer display. Based on analysis of the visualization photos, the flow patterns of the three kinds of high-shear mixer have been obtained. The experiment results verified the simulation to a certain extent, and provided relatively credible proofs to improve the structure and extend the application of high-shear mixer.
