Road surface's segregation, a stubborn of highway construction, has being bothered the engineering constructers for a long time. With the influence of other factors' uncertainties, it increasingly becomes an important factor that influences the quality of road's utility.Firstly, this thesis briefly introduces different forms and mechanisms of the road surface's segregation occurred in Chinese highways, the individual causes of each segregation, and the latest resolutions to the problems both overseas and domestics.Based on the combined knowledge of particle kinematics, the criteria of evaluating segregation abroad and at home, the author used quadratic regression experimental design to have an experiment on interrelated functions of coarse aggregate under the condition of single- particle particle's segregation and the different degrees of mixed coarse aggregate's segregation. The author also applied for SPSS software system to analyze the data, found out the most influential particle on segregation in coarse aggregate, and the rate of aggregate in various sieves happened in different degrees of segregation in order to warn people against some avoided areas.Next, on the basis of combination with the relevant knowledge of Bailey and the previous research results, the reference of currently-used Skeleton-closed cement required by government to stabilize aggregate gradation and also the standard gradation AC-20, the author chose relevant segregation grading curves, determined corresponding performance index through testing, compared with them and found out the changing rang of each physical index when they have different degrees of segregation, which demonstrates a rational understanding to people, at the same time, indicates how harmful the segregation is to road surface. Finally, combined with relevant knowledge, the author analyzed the essential causes of segregation in the processing of paving the road. The results of this thesis are of great referential significance to how to avoid different degrees of segregation when we choose gradation, they are also referentially important to non-highway roads. In addition, they will provide guiding value in different extents for other grading curves.
