Since the heavy load of freight car has been proposed, in order to meet the requirements of heavy-load and speed-raising of freight car, our country has begun to actively develop 30t axle load bogie. The side frame, which bears and delivers a variety of vertical and horizontal alternating load in operation, is an important bogie component that has a high requirement for fatigue life. At present, in our China, 30t axle load bogie is still in the design stage while the fatigue analysis of it is in the blank stage. Therefore, fatigue life analysis referring to AAR standard is in accordance with the current actual situation of freight car's heavy load and speed-raising, at the same time, it's meaningful for complementing and perfecting the standard of side frame's fatigue design and testing. According to AAR standard, this paper conducted a study of the following aspects:1. Obtain the stress distribution of the bogie side frame's key part by uing ANSYS finite element analysis software to establish finite element model and carry on the finite element analysis of 30t axle load freight car bogie's side frame.2. Evaluate the fatigue strength of the side frame under fatigue test load according to the fatigue test load and assessment standards of Specifications M-203-05 in AAR Standard and test methods in TB/T1959-2006 .3. Estimate fatigue life in accordance with nominal stress method and Miner rule on the basis of the measured line load spectrum.4. Predict fatigue crack propagation life of bogie side frame according to some relevant theories of fracture mechanics and evaluate the safety of the freight car bogie side frame based on the results.5. Analyze the impact of selection of load spectrum during actual application process on the fatigue life, that is utilizing half of bogie bolster vertical load REPOS to make the evaluation of the feasibility of side frame life.
