The port connects the Land transport and the Ocean transportation. Quayside container crane is one of the most important tools for transport in the port, which is made up of two girders hanging on the beam supported by four legs. Because of the long length of the girder, the crane carrying car can move between the land and the ocean and transfer the container cargo.With the development of Marine transportation industry vigorously, container ship is moving towards the direction of large-scale. On this condition, Quayside container crane is put forward higher requirements. High speed and overload has become the main load characteristics of Quayside container crane. On this condition, more and more cranes lose its function because of mechanical fatigue. Quayside container crane is big and heavy, once the accident happened, it will cause serious consequences. In this context, we do some research about the fatigue damage, hoping to prevent the potential mechanical accident.In this paper, the basic theory includes load spectrum, fatigue, the fatigue life and the theory of mathematical statistics. Based on the collected data, we do some research as follows:(1) we introduce the research of load spectrum at home and abroad. Then we explain the connection between load spectrum and the fatigue. At the same time, we introduce the methods of the anti-fatigue design and the prediction of the fatigue life.(2)After introducing the background and the premise condition of compiling the load spectrum of Quayside container crane, we introduce the detailed steps to compile the load spectrum.(3)Based on the method of compiling the load spectrum and the data collected, we compile the load spectrum for the Quayside container crane. Then we put forward a simple method predicting the life of the machine based on the linear cumulative damage theory put forward by Miner.(4)At this part, we explain two common rules of fatigue analysis in details, the BS5400 standard and the F.E.M standard. Then we make a detailed analysis using the two standards about the fatigue problem of the quayside container crane. We conclude the following conclusions through the analysis:(1)The method of predicting the life of the quayside container crane in this paper is reasonable.(2)To verify the correctness of the conclusion, we use two different standards to avoid drawing wrong conclusions because of the wrong statistics data.
