Large bridge health monitoring and safety assessment is now a research hotspot for bridge engineers at home and abroad. With the development of science and technology, the span of bridge is increasing, the structure of bridge is growing complicated, people are paying more attention on safety, durability and function of normal use to these large bridge, and bridge health monitoring system came into being. By the large bridge health monitoring, we want to achieve the whole behavior of the structure be real-time monitored and the state of the structure be intelligent evaluated. This paper introduces the bridge health monitoring and evaluation system about its connotation, basic composition and design criteria, also review and sum up the research results of the bridge monitoring and evaluation both here and abroad, in addition, analyzes the difficulties and problems consist in it. Furthermore, based on XuShui groove bridge engineering, my paper make a comprehensive introduction to health monitoring and evaluation system for large-span continuous rigid frame bridge, including the bridge assessment method with establishing evaluation model, the optimized allocation of sensor, the establishment of remote monitoring and warning system, and the development of system software.Through researching on health monitoring and evaluation system for large-span continuous rigid frame bridge, we change the bridge evaluating method which rely on traditional bridge detection, instead, use the monitoring data such quantitative information effectively and make a scientific and reasonable evaluation of the bridge structure. It not only breaks the previous single subjective management or single monitoring mode, but also provides the bridge management department basis in time to make optimal decision of maintenance management and maintenance and reinforcement. Correspondingly, it helps us get a deeper understanding of the safety, applicability of the bridge structure and its real response in natural environment. In a word, health monitoring and evaluation system for large-span continuous rigid frame bridge has strong economic and social significance, and the prospect of popularizing and applying the system is broad.
