The driver factor plays the primary role in the traffic transport system. The visual system as the input channel for sensory information is of necessary when drivers are on their driving. It is necessary to analyse drivers' visual search characters, so as to carry out further study on drivers' visual search pattern and characteristic parameter. This article is on the basis of relevant research theories and driver's visual characteristic, analyzing to visual search pattern by human's mental and physical. The attention search and the choice are the drivers' two kind of typical vision search pattern, in which attention search manifest specifically in the visual search behavior, the attention choice manifests specifically in the visual search strategy. They could be characteristic through eye-movement times, eye-movement angles, fixations and fixation duration. On the basis of research above, this article carried out the experimental study on novice and experienced drivers' visual characteristic in real traffic environments. Eye movement parameters and vehicle speed were recorded with eye movement tracking device to compare visual search behavior and visual search strategies. Results indicate that, novice and experienced drivers all are by take saccade primarily in the driving process, have the same visual search rule, can change the search strategy with the transportation environment; Novice drivers have a inadequate visual search behavior and tend to restrict their search; Driver experience revealed significant effect on variance of horizontal search, but no significant effect on eye-movement times, fixation durations and variance of vertical search; There are obvious difference between novice drivers and experienced drivers. The visual search strategies among experienced drivers are more flexible than novice drivers.
