Vertical cylindrical steel storage tanks are an important reservoir containers of oil storage and transportation systems. Because of storing flammable, explosive media, it is the major hazard. In the event of earthquake disaster, the consequences are very serious and more serious second disaster. Thus, human survival and ecological environment have been serious implications and the production and national economic will be caused serious economic losses. The field of earthquake engineering as the lifeline of their works.Parallel isolation technology is a hybrid isolation technology, it is a new isolation technology which compounded by rubber bearing and sliding isolation. Through a reasonable parameters matching, so the two traditional separated technology complement each other and give full play to their respective advantages and effectively to overcome some of their shortcomings, so as to achieve better isolation effectiveness.In this paper, for this type of hybrid isolation system, through the mechanical model of analysis and time-history analysis to understand their isolation performance, the mechanical properties of bearings as well as the impact of the law for the isolation parameters to isolation performance and come to the conclusion .The main research work are:(1) The parallel base isolation which is composed of rubber bearing and sliding isolation of ring beam plus pad plate. The tank parallel isolation mechanism and isolation institutions are summarized. The design requirements and methods of rubber bearing and sliding isolation are given out.(2) Dynamic response analysis theory of tank parallel base isolation: parallel base isolation theoretical analysis system mathematical model is established and the dynamic response analysis theory of tanks is established.(3) Seismic response analysis of tank parallel base isolation structure under horizontal earthquake excitation: a comprehensive effectiveness analysis for tank parallel base-isolation structure is conducted by adopting time-history analysis method. For common 10 different vertical floating roof tanks, seismic acceleration, base shear, the moment and sloshing wave of tanks are calculated at different sites (four sites) ground motion , different intensity, different isolation period, different weight ratio of the burden of the structure for sliding bearing ,different friction coefficient and different seismic wave. The isolation parameters impact on isolation tank is analyzed.(4) Conclusions: the results of research in this paper are summarized and the further research in depth content closely related to the work this paper is proposed.
