Hydraulic poppet valve is one of the most important basic components in hydraulic transmission and control systems. It controls the operation of hydraulic system by controlling the inner flow field. So the characteristic of the inner flow field directly affects the valve performance.Many scholars at home and abroad have done a lot of works on poppet valve by theoretical research, experimental method and computational fluid dynamics method; their research has provided much powerful theoretical basis for improving the performance of valve.But the affection of valve's performance by the structure parameters is uncertainty because the complexity of the valve's structure. For this issue, this paper simulates and analysis a practical outward-flow poppet valve of Technology development center of Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. Using CFD softwere, the influence to the performance of the reseached valve by its structure parameters is educed.The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1) The 3-D model is established and is meshed. Then the inner flow field of the poppet valve is simulated at different cone structure, different opening positions.(2) Analysing the result of simulation, the variation curves of flow rate, discharge coefficient, cone resistance and flow force in different opening of different structure parameters can be obtained.(3) Combining the above curves and simulation results, the influence to the performance of the poppet valve from the pressure and streamlines distribution on the cone, and the degree of different structure parameters can be obtained. This study for the valve offers the significant reference for designing the valve and optimizing its performance.(4) According to the above analysis result of valve, a method to optimize the poppet valve can be obtained. In this paper, an optimized structure of valve was simulated. Then the result shows that the method for optimizing poppet valve is feasibile.
