Swirl atomizer is widely used in petroleum industry, environment, food, chemical engineering, fire protecting industries and so on. Compared with the other forms of atomizer, the swirl atomizer with cyclone core is compact and small-size radial. According to the theory and numerical simulation, a swirl atomizer with cyclone core was designed and machined. The atomizer was proved to meet the design requirements by experiment and applied for the following research.The physical model of cross flow channel and mathematic model of the atomization were built. The boundary condition and the atomization model were confirmed according to the research, the numerical simulation has been conducted for atomization in the cross flow field.Not to consider the effect of evaporation, the effect of different cross flow velocity, spray jet direction and atomizer working pressure on atomization under the normal temperature was simulated and studied.The numerical simulation has been conducted for the atomization field and temperature distribution under the hot cross flow, the study will focused on the effect of the atomization on cooling the hot cross flow. At last, the effect of the cross flow velocity, spray jet angle and atomizer working pressure on cooling the hot cross flow will be summuried.The experimental programme was established for the requirements of research. The measuring installation and test stand was designed. The experiment to research the effect of cross flow velocity, spray jet angle and atomizer working pressure on atomization was prepared.
